Update time

Well, there’s not much going on in my sleepy little world right now, so I don’t have much to post about. I’ll give you a brief run down just to keep you updated:

I had my second guitar lesson last night, and thankfully, I seem to be improving. (Maybe?) I now know all of my chords in D and A, and can practice songs like “Wild Thing” and “Amazing Grace”. (Glad to know the genre gap is wide open.) I also learned how to tune my guitar by ear. Needless to say, I don’t plan on doing that very often. I think tuners were invented for a reason. But it’s nice to know how, I guess. My teacher is still being very patient. I keep waiting for him to snap and ask me if I have a learning disorder.

After my lesson, I headed over to the college in town to watch Bye, Bye Birdie. They brought actors in from somewhere (?) and they did a fantastic job. I left the theater singing, “We love you Conrad. Oh, yes we do…” It got pretty annoying after about 10 minutes, but by then it was stuck in my head.

Kevin didn’t sell his land, or his cows –and I’m not sure he really wants to, deep down. We’re not together, and I doubt we ever will be. It hurts, but in the end, I think it’s for the best. We want different things in life, and I don’t think either of us should give up our dreams to make the other one happy. It wouldn’t be fair. I can talk about it like a mature adult, but deep down, I’m sort of a wreck right now. But thanks to the loving support of my family and friends (including you wonderful blog-buddies), I know I’ll make it. So, thank you.

And that’s pretty much all there is to tell, for now. Hope you all have a happy Friday.

I love going to see plays and never do! Add that to my list of things to do over the next couple of months :)
I know you must be really aching inside over the breakup, but I'm proud of you for being so strong and not giving up any part of yourself. I love that you're getting out there and doing stuff you enjoy. This will pass and I cannot wait for the day that you meet someone who compliments you a lot better!

I can tune a guitar by ear if and only if I assume that the first string is in tune. But I have such bad pitch I wouldn't be able to tell if it was flat.

Sorry to hear about Kevin and his cows, but if you both want different things then it probably is for the best - it will get easier over time. (Everyone says that, but that's because it's true!)

I laughed out loud at the 'learning disorder' comment. You're so funny. I think I'd probably have the same disorder but I'm not too keen to find out (neither, I'm sure, are any of the music teachers in Pigsknuckle).

Here's to letting go of things that don't make us happy... and holding on to things that do (like beer, which we'll drink much of, in 3 weeks! ;)

That wasn't too bad. Certainly a lot more than I did.

The guitar is such a cool thing! A good line to pick up guys with too!
Did you really want to be a farm girl? They may sell the cows and the land, but they always return to it! You are much to pretty to be hauling hay and rounding up heifers! LOL

I so thought of you and you knocking down the Christmas lights at the zoo when I was writing about the phone!

I'm so jealous that you're learning the guitar! I've wanted to for a long time, but I have lovely eczema on my hands and they already are raw and bleedy a lot, so I don't need the extra stress of guitar strings.

Your heart, she is strong, even if wrecked.

And, thanks for the song stuck in my head now. We love you Conrad, oh yes we do. We love you Conrad, and we'll be true. When you're not near us, we're blue. Oh Conrad, we love you!

What a repetoire you will have ... Amazing Grace to Wild Thing.

Just keep yourself busy while your heart heals. : )

I was horrible at the guitar. I think I made it through six lessons, and I still never learned anything besides "Mary Had A Little Lamb." Sigh.

Oh! Wait! I lie! I also learned a few Nirvana songs. Nirvana songs are WAY easier than Mary and her lamb could ever be... seriously. :-)
